Law enforcement sources: Suspect in custody in Md. trooper's killing

              Sunday, June 13, 2010

Detectives believe the  person of interest  taken into custody Saturday night in connection with the slaying of a Maryland State Trooper outside an Applebee's restaurant in Forestville is likely the man who shot the trooper. The man has not been charged in the killing of the trooper.

That's based largely on the account of a person who witnessed the incident from the parking lot, a law enforcement source said Sunday.

Investigators still have unanswered questions in the killing of Trooper Wesley Brown, 24, who was working security in an off duty capacity at the Applebee's when he was shot early Friday morning. But, for now, they consider the man they have in custody   the man in a light blue shirt who Brown escorted out of the Applebee's about 30 minutes before the shooting   to be the primary suspect, the source said.

Authorities have not publicly identified the man in custody.

June 11, 2010 - PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va.—Police say a man wanted in the killings of a West Virginia woman and her 3-year-old son is believed to be hiding out in Prince William County.

Antonio Prophet, 34, of Lorton, should be considered armed and dangerous, said Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok. He has ties to Lake Ridge, but could be in any part of the county.

Prophet is charged with murder in the deaths of a Berkeley County, W.Va., woman whose body was found in a burned apartment along with her young son.

Fire crews found the bodies Sunday in Gerrardstown. The arrest warrant identifies the victims as Angela Devonshire, 22, and her 3-year-old son, Andre White.

Results of autopsies from the state Medical Examiner’s office in Charleston have yet to be released.

Prophet is believed to be from the Lorton area and had been dating Devonshire for about two weeks, sheriff’s Lt. Gary Harmison said.

An officer’s statement accompanying the warrant said investigators listened to a phone call in which an unidentified woman said the suspect allegedly told her he killed Devon-shire and her son and that Devonshire had stolen money from him.

The statement said the bodies were found in the garage below the residence and it’s be-lieved they fell through the second-floor apartment during the fire.

Investigators believe Prophet was at the residence before the fire and that it was inten-tionally set. The warrant indicates that the woman’s throat may have been cut.

Harmison said an infant boy was found unhurt outside the home but wasn’t sure how the baby got there.

A Martinsburg woman has launched a Facebook page titled “Help Find Antonio Prophet.“

Prophet wrote in his profile on his MySpace page that he’s laid back, goal oriented and ambitious.

“I want it all, and willing to work for it,“ Prophet wrote. “So either run with me or run from me!“

Prophet’s business card obtained by police indicated he is the author of a paperback, “En-ter The Fire: Seven Days in the Life.“ On his MySpace page, Prophet said the book’s main character is involved in drug wars and killings.

Anyone who sees Prophet or knows where he might be is asked to call 911.
