Text Your Tip Anonymously
Stafford Crime Solvers has invested in technology that allows you to anonymously and securely submit information to Stafford County's Sheriff's Office. This secure application allows you and a member of the Sheriff's Office to have two-way dialog while keeping your identity completely anonymous. Short Message Service (SMS), often called text messaging, is a means of sending short messages to and from mobile phones. Want to send a tip using your cell phone or mobile device?
Texting your tip is simple:
1. Open your cell phone's text message window
2. Select text message: In the "TO" window type: CRIMES (274637). Hit OK
3. In the text window type: STAFFORD. Then in the same window, type the details of your tip (do not include your name or contact information to ensure your anonymity)
4. Hit SEND - you will receive a confirmation text with your unique tip number (do not lose this number - this number can not be replaced). Please allow two/three weeks before following up on your tip (you will need your unique number in order to be matched with the reported tip). That unique number can also be used to provide additional information on your original tip.
5. If you wish to stop the "tip" process at any time, you can text STOP and all communications will cease immediately.
Text "STAFFORD" and your message to 274637 (CRIMES) on your cell phone or mobile device.
